A lion drawn across a mirrored centre, so the piece looks back into the room it hangs in. The mane is worked in fine mandala line straight over the glass, and around it runs a deep border of laser-cut wood, each layer painted its own colour and stacked by hand: greens and creams lifting out of a dark walnut-toned frame. Catch it in daylight and the mirror carries the light and a little of the room; from across the space the lion settles into one calm, steady face.
The lion has long been read as a mark of strength and quiet courage, which is part of why this one holds a wall the way it does. Up close you can follow every layer and the shadow it throws on the one beneath, each painted plane sitting at its own depth. The paint itself is a natural oil woodstain, so the grain shows through every plane.
The mirror can be personalised, engraved with your own words: a name, a date or a line that means something, so the piece becomes particular to the room it lives in. It's a large statement piece, and it's our own design, drawn and hand-painted in our Fife studio. We make each one to order, so it takes a little time, usually two to seven days, before it ships.
