A wee Highland coo sitting square on, its fringe flopped over its eyes and four little hooves tucked in at the front. The shaggy coat is built up from layer after layer of laser-cut wood, each one hand-painted in natural oil woodstain and stacked, the grain showing through the colour, with russet linework curling over forest green, honey and cream, and the striped ears and soft muzzle picked out on top.

Sitting off the wall, it casts a gentle shadow that gives the fringe real depth. The Highland coo has become a wee emblem of Scotland itself, hardy and good-natured in any weather. We drew this wee coo ourselves and hand-paint every layer in our Fife workshop, making each one to order, usually two to seven days before we post it. It makes a warm thing to hang above a cot or on a nursery wall, and a soft-hearted gift for a new baby or anyone who's daft about Highland cows.
