A cat sits in side profile on a small round base, head up and tail curled high behind it, the whole body laser-cut and stacked in layers of wood in a mandala of fine fretwork. Look closely and you can pick out the flowers, leaves and dotted scrollwork stacked layer over layer, warm brown outlines over a paler core, so the pattern reads with real depth rather than sitting flat.
Lit from the base, colour spills up through the cutwork: a deep glowing red one evening, a cool sea-green the next, across seven colours, four light modes and the brightness on a dial. Cats have long been read as independent and quietly intuitive, a little mysterious, which suits a piece that looks calm at rest and comes alive once it's lit. Turn it low on a windowsill and it's a soft night-light; turn it up and it's the shape people notice from across the room.
It runs from any USB and comes with a plug in the box, ready to light the moment it arrives. Each cat is our own design, drawn and laser-cut by us in Fife rather than bought in as a ready-made file, then oiled by hand, usually two to seven days before it's sent, and because every layer is cut fresh, no two mandalas ever line up quite the same.
