The outer edge is a pointed starburst, rays fanning out like a compass rose, and at its centre sits Scotland's own thistle. The flower head is painted a strong purple above spiky green sepals, set over olive-green rays with amber and cream layers beneath, each one laser-cut in wood, finished in its own colour and stacked into relief. Each colour is a natural oil woodstain, so the grain shows through under the paint.
It's the purple that catches you first, bright against the greens and the warm wood. A quiet battery quartz movement runs behind it, with white hands sitting over the pattern. Scotland's national flower has stood for resilience and pride for centuries, and this one looks as at home held up against old Scottish stone as it does on a wall indoors. Our own design, made here in Fife, Scotland.
