Lakshmi sits open-handed on a full lotus, four arms spread, a lotus bloom raised in each of her upper hands and her lower palms turned out in blessing. In Hindu tradition she is honoured as the goddess of prosperity, fortune and abundance, above all at Diwali, and this is a piece made for a home shrine, a mandir corner, or a wall the household passes every day. We drew her ourselves and painted her by hand here in Fife: the figure built up from warm red-brown wood over a pale core, with soft green and amber worked into the crown, the sari and the petals, each layer laser-cut in its own colour, then glued and stacked so she stands proud of the wall and throws a gentle shadow behind her.

The tall crown, the layered necklaces and the veined lotus seat all keep their fine detail, and the red-brown, green and amber stay warm whether the light is bright or low. The colours are natural oil woodstain, so the grain of the wood shows through them. We finish each piece to order, most within two to seven days, and offer her in several sizes to suit the space.
